A spin on the classic Cinderella...Enitan is a simple clerk in the stationary shop now owned by his stepfather. He spends his days cleaning and tending the inventory, wishing he could have more of a presence in the shop, or leave to start his own somewhere else. Then a stranger walks into the shop, seeking ink, and Enitan finds himself swept into a world to which he does not belong, and wishing for things even more impossible than a shop of his own.

I do love the author and her writing, and this book was no exception however I felt a little cheated. There is really no conclusion to it. It's like she just stopped at the end of the sentence. I was left waning to know more, what happens? What of the step dad? His shop? Why didn't his mom leave it to him? To many unanswered questions for me to enjoy the book to its fullest. There was no interaction with the grand duke, over all no resolutions.

Rating 6/10

There are some interesting elements here, and it’s a sweet twist on the Cinderella fairy tale, but there are numerous scenes that are rushed and/or completely skipped over. In addition, the story is riddled with missed words, spelling mistakes, and grammar mistakes (“I knew you would lovely in those colors,” “in all likely hood,” “to lesson the chance of mistakes,” etc.).

I’m afraid I’m a bit of a hard sell these days. With few exceptions, a super short story doesn’t have enough substance to convince me of much. This is an okay little story, but it would have been much better if it had been fleshed out. (I think that about most shorter stories, though, so maybe take that comment with a grain of salt.)
Even when I figure out the end before the end it's okay because Megan Derr's books are great and I always have a smile in my face at the end )
Short and sweet m/m re-telling of a classic fairy tale. I enjoyed this uncomplicated portrayal of Enitan and Rem and how they fell in love during Carnivale. Only wish it had been longer!
This as adorable without being tooth-rotting-ly sweet. I find Megan Derr a pretty solid writer; I've enjoyed everything of hers that I read, and this was no disappointment.
It was nice but a little too short. I wish there was a bit more or even an epilogue but, overall it was a lovely read.
I've noticed I prefer Ms Derr's longer stories that focus on 1-2 characters only. The shorter ones leave me wanting for more, and those with to many main characters feel rushed at times.

That said, this is a fun little piece.
This was a nice, short read. Not much character development but I did enjoy the story. However, I was frequently distracted and annoyed by the typos and mistakes. Even the best writers need a proofreader and copy editor. This book has numerous small errors that could be fixed to improve the reading experience. I'm disappointed in authors who don't bother to do that before publishing.
